NYC DOT Sidewalk Violations
DOT sends a Preliminary Inspection Report showing sidewalk defects. A diagram will be included, flagging each area that needs to be repaired before the deadline.
DOT files a notice with the County Clerk. This can prevent you from selling your property until the violation is removed. You have 75 days to make the repairs and avoid a lien on your home.
After 75 days, DOT may assign a city contractor and place a lien on your property. You will be billed for the cost of repairs done on behalf of the DOT.
